Early Life Group at Frank Field Education Trust has been shortlisted for the Tes Awards 2024

The best schools and teachers across the country have been shortlisted in this year’s Tes Schools Awards. The Tes Schools Awards, which have been dubbed the ‘Oscars of education’, is a prestigious awards programme which celebrates the best of education across the UK. It has now been revealed that Frank Field Education Trust and The Ellesmere Port C of E College has been shortlisted in the category of The Tim Brighouse Community Engagement Initiative of the Year award.

The Tes Schools Awards recognises the very best teachers and schools from UK state and independent schools, across early years settings, primary and secondary.

The shortlist was compiled by a panel of expert judges, including school leaders and experts. The schools and teachers they chose showcase the best of education across the sector within 21 award categories, covering all areas of school education.

The Early Life Group is the realisation of Lord Field’s vision for a Foundation Years project. Frank wrote extensively on education and, in 2010, wrote “The Foundation Years: preventing poor children becoming poor adults” report, regarded as a landmark document detailing the importance of education and Early Years care in ending disadvantage.

The Frank Field Education Trust, with The Ellesmere Port C of E College (EPC) has developed an innovative community-based programme known as the Early Life Group aimed at local families and designed to support children to become school ready at aged two and to equip their parents to continue this learning at home.

EPC is part of the Frank Field Education Trust (FFET) which was established in December 2018 to provide a 0-18 model of education providing Social Justice Through Excellence in Education.

Jon Severs, Editor of Tes Magazine said, “Congratulations to all the shortlisted entries – the standard was so high this year despite the challenges schools face. It is critical we celebrate excellence and share it widely so we can ensure that the fantastic work happening in education is properly recognised.”

Winners will be announced on 21st June at a glittering gala awards night at the Grosvenor Hotel, Park Lane, in London.

This year also marked the first time Tes operated this awards programme internationally with the Tes Awards for International Schools. More information on the international version of these awards can be found here: https://www.tes.com/schools-awards
