Dr Chris Hampshire MBA (Dist.) PhD
Chris has held senior management and executive roles in various permanent positions and worked for Barclays Bank, Bank of Scotland and Leeds Permanent Building Society amongst others. Chris was Managing Director of the consumer credit card and loan division at First-e Banking Group (a start-up internet bank based in Dublin) in 1999/2000.
Chris went on to establish Global Credit Card Consulting Ltd where he was Managing Director and owner for over 13 years working with various clients in the UK and continental Europe providing interim programme management services and managed major multi-million £ digital change programmes.
In 2009, Chris commenced a 2 year part-time MBA degree course at the University of Chester Business School and graduated with a distinction in 2011. Chris then became a full time doctoral research student at the University of Chester Business School and successfully completed his PhD in 2016.
Chris was a LGB member at Copmanthorpe Infant school, Copmanthorpe Junior school and Tadcaster Grammar school in the 1980s. He was a member of the Statement of Action Committee (pseudo IEB) at University of Chester Ellesmere Port Academy and also at University of Chester Kidsgrove Academy in 2014/15.
Chris was appointed IEB Chair by Wirral Local Authority for a school in special measures in 2017/18. He subsequently became a Trustee at Frank Field Education Trust (FFET) in March 2019 and Chairs the Finance Committee. He was elected Chair of the FFET Board in April 2021 when Lord Field of Birkenhead stood down for personal reasons. Chris is also a Trustee at Weaver Trust which he joined in November 2020 and is also a member of Weaver Trust’s Finance committee too.
Chris has been Chair of Friends of Hadlow Road Station which he established since its formation in 2015.
